New Technologies Contributing To The Growth Of Intelligent Transport Systems

Applications for the Intelligent Transport Systems are on the verge of rise with every passing day. These smart technologies facilitate each and every process related to transportation like driving management, parking management and car pooling among various others.  The net valuation for the ITS market globally stood at $25.58 Billion in the year of 2018 which is most likely to grow at a CAGR of 10.5 percent until 2025. With the growing urbanisation around the world and increase in average wealth, roads and cars are increasing rapidly with a growing demand for transportation management. There is now a need to provide real time traffic information to drivers as well as passengers which is one of the primary reasons for the growth of the smart transportation market.

Recent trends in intelligent transportation systems

The necessity to plan out the travel from one point to the other has been there since ages. With the recent developments in the transportation technology trends, it is now possible to curb out a whole trip from a planning stage until the traveller reaches the destination. A program has been initiated by USDOT (US Department of Transportation) called as the ATTRI (Accessible Transportation Technologies Research Initiative) under which safe and advanced transportation technology trends are being researched and implemented. Systems have been developed in such a way that at every step of the way, necessary information about the stage will be provided to the traveller along with anything the journey might need. Reminders will be set at each and every point in the trip.

Curb management is another subject that is also being taken care with the help of technology. It is not new that during any popular event or festival, curb pricings raise like anything. Automated systems will ensure that there isn’t unnecessary surge in curb pricing and will also provide the directions to nearest curbs in the area. With smart systems integrated into transportation, the method of curb management will completely change.

More accessibility towards transportation and further inclusivity is another aspect which comes under the management of intelligent transport systems. A lot many car-pooling smart phone applications are already in the market which helps in the increasing accessibility towards transportation and even providing transportation for the old and the disabled. The smart technology has enabled smooth and safe transportation for everyone along with the satisfaction of using an advanced and seamless source for it.

Integrating behavioural sciences into the 2020 transportation trends is one of the transformational technologies that the world is about to see. Every traveller is of a different mindset and has different plans of travel. With the quotient of behaviour included into a travel application, customised plans for transportation according to the nature of the traveller will be provided. This will not only ensure safe and secure travel for the traveller, but will also provide the satisfaction of doing it the way that was desired.

MaaS (Mobility as a Service) is one of the areas that have received a lot of appreciation and usage from all across the world. The privilege of booking a cab through a smart phone application is a revolutionary one. There are already a number of global players like Uber, Lyft and Grab among several others which are providing the exact same service to its customers.
